How to watch dragon ball Z ? Season and Movie guide

Today we are going to discuss how to watch dragon ball from beginning till now, step to step guide on how to watch all seasons and movie of the Dragon Ball franchise, hope this will help a lot of viewers who wanted to start Dragon Ball Z or those who are half way through but didn't know what to watch next.

The first thing is you have to decide in what language you want to watch, in Japanese or in English Dubbed. When you choose the language, then you have to decide that you want to watch only the main storyline OR do you want to watch everything about Dragon ball Z that was ever written or ever released.

What is Canon and Non-canon?

First, lets talk about what is Canon and Non-canon? Because it will help you to understand this article better. Canon Season/movies are those which are related to the original Manga story and follow the same storyline that was published on Manga whereas Non-canon are those Season/movies which are written, directed and released by the anime production separate from the Manga, to boost their sales of merchandise and toys. These Non-canons are not related to original Manga and didn't contribute to its original storyline.

Do I watch Dragon Ball Z or Dragon ball Kai?

Basically, they both are the same thing Dragon Ball Z was original that we have seen in our childhood and the Kai version is the remastered version of Dragon ball Z, they trim out very filler episodes that was in the original Dragon ball Z and have a faster pace of storyline to keep it very close to the original manga story, also they better the animation style as compared to Dragon ball Z. 

There are total 291 episodes in Dragon Ball Z whereas in Dragon Ball Kai they reduced up to 167. So, if you want to complete the season quickly, then watch Kai version or if you want to watch exactly the same you used to watch on TV, then you can watch Dragon Ball Z. This is up to your personal viewing choice.

Whether to watch Dragon ball GT or not?

The next question is whether to watch Dragon ball GT or not? Some of you have wondered why is that even a question? But as I explained earlier, Dragon ball GT is a non-canon, so if you didn't want to watch this season, skip it, there is nothing to worry about the story you skipped. There are a lot of people skip GT and its entirety.

First List (Series only)

I will add all canon and non-canon series and movie to list, but lets first Start with only series. If you want to watch only series this list is for you.

1. Dragon Ball
2. Dragon Ball Z or Dragon ball Kai
3. Dragon Ball GT (if you really want to watch. If not, go straight to no. - 4)
4. Dragon Ball Super

and here you go.... It's complete, easy and simple.

Second List (Only Canon Series and Movies)

Now, for our second list, it is in chronological order for best possible viewing experience for all of you. This is just like our previous list, but we are just adding movie at this time.

1. Dragon Ball
2. Dragon Ball Z or Dragon ball Kai (but only go to the end of Frieza saga)
3. Bardock – The Father of Goku (Movie)
4. Then go back to where you left in Z or Kai and watch up to the end of the Cell Saga
5. Then next is The History of Trunks (Movie)
6. Then go back to Z or Kai and watch up till the very end.
7. Then you have to decide you want to watch Dragon ball GT or not and then
8. Dragon Ball Super (2015)
1. Plus, you also add to watch Battle of Gods (2013) and Resurrection 'F' (2015) movies at the end of this list if you want. I will leave that to you.

Third List (All Canon and non-canon Series and Movies)

So it's time for our last and final list. If want to watch everything without missing a single thing all the non-canon movies, all the Canon Movies, and obviously Dragon ball Z not Kai. You have to be a bit patience to complete this list because it has a total 54 points.
